If You Cannot Record
If you cannot start a browser recording, or if the button does not respond when clicked, check the following in order.
1. Check if the recording method is supported
mocoVoice browser recording supports Microphone recording and Screen share recording (tabs, windows, and entire screen).
- You can use microphone recording for standard meetings as is.
- If you want to capture audio playing on your PC (such as an online meeting), use Screen share recording.
- You can share a specific tab, a window, or your entire screen. If you choose a tab, turn on Also share tab audio. If you choose a window or your entire screen, turn on Also share system audio.
- Note: Recording system audio for a window or your entire screen is available on Chrome/Edge for Windows, and Chrome (version 141 or later) for Mac. On other setups, you can only share tab audio.
2. Check if you are using a supported browser
We recommend using Google Chrome for browser recording. Other browsers like Safari, Firefox, or Edge may struggle to recognize your microphone, capture tab audio, or save recordings reliably.
- Open the latest version of Google Chrome and try mocoVoice again.
- If you are on a smartphone or tablet, we still recommend Chrome (or a Chrome-based browser).
3. Check your browser permissions
When you use microphone recording, you will see a prompt asking to allow mocoVoice to use your microphone. When you use screen share recording, you will see a prompt to choose what to share. If you accidentally block or cancel these prompts, the recording will not start when you click the button later.
- Click the Lock icon (or 🅘 icon) in your address bar.
- Change Microphone to Allow.
- For screen share recording, select what you want to share in the dialog box, and make sure audio sharing is enabled (“Also share tab audio” for tabs, or “Also share system audio” for windows/entire screens).
- Reload the page. You will see the permission prompt again. Follow the instructions to allow access.
4. Check your OS (PC or smartphone) microphone permissions
Your operating system might be blocking the browser from accessing your microphone.
- macOS: Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone > turn ON Google Chrome.
- Windows: Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone > turn ON Google Chrome.
- iPhone/iPad: Go to Settings > Chrome > turn ON Microphone.
After allowing access in your OS settings, restart your browser.
5. If you see “Could not capture audio”
This message appears if you start sharing without turning on the audio sharing option. The recording will not start.
- Click the record button again.
- In the share screen, select what you want to record (tab, window, or entire screen).
- If you chose a tab, turn on Also share tab audio. If you chose a window or your entire screen, turn on Also share system audio at the bottom of the dialog.
- Start sharing.
If you see a message saying “Only tabs can be selected”, your current setup does not support recording audio from windows or entire screens (Supported: Chrome/Edge on Windows, Chrome version 141+ on Mac). Select a Tab in the share screen instead.
6. If the problem persists
- Try accessing mocoVoice from a different device or network (such as a mobile connection) to see if the issue happens again.
- If the problem still persists, reach out via Customer Support and include your browser name, OS, and a description of the issue.
