Edit speaker names
In mocoVoice, you can change placeholder speaker names like SPEAKER_00 or SPEAKER_01 in your transcript to actual participant names.
When you change a name in the Speaker list at the top of the screen, the same speaker name throughout the transcript updates automatically. You do not need to correct it line by line.
Steps
1. Open the transcript history
In the left sidebar, click Files, then click the Open button for the transcript you want to edit.
2. Check the speaker list
The Speaker list appears above the transcript. Initially, speakers have names like SPEAKER_00 or SPEAKER_01.
The pencil icon next to a name is the button to edit the speaker name.
The screen displays the message: “Click the edit button to update speaker names in bulk.” The name you change here applies to all lines spoken by that person.
3. Click the pencil icon for the speaker you want to edit
Click the pencil icon next to the speaker you want to change (for example, SPEAKER_00). The selected speaker becomes editable.
You can also double-click a speaker name directly in the transcript text to edit it. However, if you want to change all instances of the same speaker, using the pencil icon in the speaker list is easier.
4. Enter the new speaker name and confirm
Enter the new name (for example, Mr. Kato) and click the checkmark (✓) to save it.
If you are using mocoVoice with a team, name suggestions of team members might appear below the input field. Click a suggestion to enter it quickly.
5. Check the updates
After you save, the speaker list shows the new name. The same speaker names in the transcript text are replaced with the new name.
Follow the same steps to change other speakers.
- Click the pencil icon.
- Enter the name.
- Click the checkmark (✓) to save.
Let AI estimate speaker names
Instead of typing names manually one by one, the AI can estimate speaker names based on the conversation content.
Click the Estimate speaker names button with the blue border in the top right of the speaker list.
When suggestions appear, check the content.
- To use a suggestion: Click the checkmark (✓) next to it.
- To not use a suggestion: Click the × button.
- If a suggestion is wrong: Click the pencil icon to correct the name manually.
AI estimates are not always correct. Verify that the speaker name is correct before you save.
Notes
- You can click the pencil icon to change a speaker name again after saving.
- Speaker name changes only apply to the currently open transcript. They do not affect other transcripts.
- The speaker names you save here are also used when you create meeting notes. For details, see Create meeting notes.
