Edit a transcript
In mocoVoice, you can edit the generated transcript directly if there are errors or expressions you want to change. You can edit text block by block, split, add, or delete lines, and replace words throughout the whole document directly on the transcript screen.
NoteTo edit speaker names (for example,
SPEAKER_00), use the pencil icon in the speaker list to change them in bulk. For details, see Edit speaker names. This page explains how to edit the transcript text.
Steps
1. Open the transcript you want to edit
In the left sidebar, click Files, then click the Open button (eye icon) for the transcript you want to edit. Each block shows the speaker name, timestamp, and text.
The speaker list and editing guide appear at the top of the transcript.
2. Double-click the text to start editing
Double-click the text you want to edit. It turns into an input field where you can make changes. You can also double-click the speaker name or timestamp (MM:SS) to edit them individually.
3. Save or discard changes
After you edit the text in the input field, use the toolbar in the bottom right corner of the field.
- Checkmark (): Save your changes. If you save an empty field, that block is deleted.
- X mark (): Discard changes and revert to the original text. If it is a new block, the entire block is deleted.
- You can also press Esc on your keyboard to cancel (when editing speaker names or timestamps).
When you save changes, they update the transcript text, and apply to meeting notes and downloads (Word, Text, etc.).
4. Auto-save to AI dictionary
When you save transcript edits, the AI extracts proper nouns and technical terms and automatically saves them to the selected dictionary. This improves recognition for these words in future transcripts.
You can change the destination dictionary from “Auto-save edits to ‘Dictionary Name’” at the top of the transcript. By default, your primary dictionary is selected.
- If you do not want to auto-save, select “Do not auto-save edits” from the menu.
- The AI finds candidate words whether you save individual edits or use replace all.
- Auto-saved words do not include pronunciation. You can add pronunciation later in “Dictionaries & Templates” if needed.
- If a word is saved by mistake, click “Cancel registration” in the notification.
5. Split a line
To split a long line into two, place your cursor where you want to split the text in the input field, and click the scissors icon () in the toolbar. The text splits into two blocks. The second block gets a temporary speaker name like <Original Speaker>_Split (or _Split(2) if the name already exists).
You cannot split a line if the cursor is at the very beginning or end, if one side would be empty, or while saving. The scissors icon will be disabled, and a tooltip will explain why.
6. Add a line
Click the ”+ Add line” button that appears between blocks to insert a new line. A new block appears and becomes editable immediately. The new block has a temporary speaker name like “New Speaker” (or New Speaker(2)). Double-click to edit the speaker name if needed.
Click to save, or to discard. If you click while the field is empty, the new block is deleted.
7. Delete a line
To delete a block completely, use one of these methods:
- Click the trash icon () in the toolbar while editing.
- Delete all text in the field and click the checkmark () to save.
Both methods delete the block from the transcript.
8. Replace all instances of a word
If the transcript contains the same error multiple times, use replace all. Click “Click here to replace all” in the guide at the top of the text to open the replacement tool.
Enter the original word in “Find” and the correct word in “Replace with”, then click “Replace all”. All matching instances in the text will be updated. You cannot run this if “Find” is empty.
Notes
Merging consecutive lines
If you assign the same speaker name to two consecutive blocks, they automatically merge into one block after you reload the page. If the conversation order is mixed up, fix the speaker names and reload.
Important details
- Edits are not saved automatically. Always click the checkmark () to confirm. If you try to close the page without saving, a confirmation dialog appears.
- Enter timestamps in
MM:SSformat (seconds from00to59). If the format is wrong, an error message appears. If you do not know the time, enterXX:XXto save it as unconfirmed. - Edits apply to meeting notes and downloads (Word, Text, etc.).
